Mr. Gaspard has spent his professional life in the
entertainment industry. He has produced the feature films TIARA
TANGO starring Jean Smart and Robert Wagner Jr. and ENEMIES OF LAUGHTER
with Peter Falk, David Paymer and Bea Arthur. He was the American
distributor of the award-winning South African film, MAPANTSULA.
Prior to his involvement in the film industry, Mr.
Gaspard was the Founder and Producing Director of the Westside Arts
Theatre in New York City from 1980 to 1990. Subsequently he founded
the Union Square Theatre in 1991 and ran that multi-use performance
space until 1995.
Raised in Chicago, New Orleans and Los Angeles, Mr.
Gaspard came to New York to attend Columbia University as a National
Merit Scholar and while a student was a regular photographer at
the Fillmore East and an assistant photographer at Time-Life. After
college, he worked as a tour manager with “Sly and the Family
Stone” and Stevie Wonder among many others and also produced
and directed music videos for “Talking Heads,” “Patti
Smith” and the Japanese Blues Singer “Toru Oki.”
Some of the other projects he is currently developing are a feature
film based on J.P. Donleavy’s seminal novel THE GINGER MAN
with Johnny Depp slated to star; I EMILY, another feature with Calista
Flockhart attached to play the lead role of Emily Dickinson; and
DR. MATTHEW, a documentary about a remarkable doctor who gave his
life holding the line against the dreaded Ebola Virus in Northern
Uganda.
Most recently, he has partnered with The Stellar Group
on the extraordinary artistic endeavor, THE WIDE WORLD OF MUSIC™,
the aim of which is to create musical bridges and better appreciation
of this planet’s diverse societies.
